New England is unique in terms of much of it’s rural housing stock is on larger lots than other parts of the country. This is due to local and state zoning regulations that control how small a lot a home can be on. Even then, larger parcels will often be subdivided over time to homes on acreage (10+ acres) are harder to find and becoming more and more valuable. If you enjoy the outdoors, want to raise animals, have a big garden, build a garage or a shed or just desire some privacy from your neighbors, having some acreage is what you are looking for. Another nice benefit to having ten or more acres of land is that in New Hampshire, your land can be put in current use which often will result in a savings on your property tax bill.
