Newbury is a town located in central New Hampshire in the Dartmouth/Sunapee region of the state. It is situated in the Western part of Merrimack County and encompasses a total area of 38.1 square miles, 2.3 of which is water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Newbury was home to 2,072 people.

Since it was first granted in 1753, that land that now comprises Newbury has gone through a number of name changes over the years. It?s been known as Dantzic, Hereford, Fishersfield, not taking on the name "Newbury" until 1837, when the town was officially incorporated. Notable sites in the area include the Bell Cove Historic Caboose Museum and the Fells Historic Site, where the summer home of John Milton May is located.

More than 6 percent of Newbury's total area is made up of water. The town is home to Lake Sunapee, Andrew Brook and Warner River, and its highest point lies at Mount Sunapee, where elevation reaches 2,726 feet above sea level. The area is served by New Hampshire Routes 103, 103A and 103B, as well as Interstate 89.

Newbury is governed by an elected Board of Selectmen. It boasts a full-time police department, a part-time fire department and part-time emergency medical services. Top employers in the area include the Mount Sunapee Resort, Baker Hill Golf Club and Best Western Sunapee Lake Lodge. Children in the area attend schools in the Kearsarge Regional School District, which also serves the nearby towns of Bradford, New London, Springfield, Sutton, Warner and Wilmot.
