Warren is a town located in Western New Hampshire in the Dartmouth/Sunapee region of the state. It is situated in the central part of Grafton County and encompasses a total area of 49 square miles, .6 of which is water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Warren was home to 904 people.

The land that comprises Warren was first granted by Governor Benning Wentworth in 1763. Settlement of the area began in 1767. It was officially incorporated as a town in 1770 by Governor John Wentworth, taking on the name “Warren,” in honor of Admiral Sir Peter Warren. The town was once home to the New Hampshire State Sanitorium. The facility now exists as the Glencliff Home for the Elderly. Warren is also home to the Redstone ballistic missile landmark.

Less than 2 percent of Warren’s total area is made up of water. The town is home to the Baker River, parts of the White Mountains and the White Mountain National Forest. Its highest point lies at Carr Mountain, where elevation reaches 3,330 feet above sea level. The area is served by New Hampshire Routes 25, 25C and 118, as well as Interstates 91 and 93.

Warren is governed by an elected Board of Selectmen. It boasts a part-time police department, a volunteer fire department and private, full-time emergency medical services. Top employers in the area include the Warren Village Market, Mount Carr Building Products, CM Whitcher, Moose Hillock Campground, Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, Ammonoosuc Community Health Services, Warren Village School, Becket Family Services and Calamity Jane’s Restaurant.

Children in the area attend the Warren Village School for grades kindergarten through sixth. For grades seven through 12, they attend Haverhill Cooperative School District, which also serves the nearby towns of Haverhill, Bath, Woodsville and Piermont. For recreation and entertainment, Warren residents can take advantage of the town’s municipal parks, swimming facilities, tennis courts, museums, youth organizations, sports leagues, campgrounds, fishing and hunting areas, snowmobile trails, bicycle trails, cross country skiing and local waterfront areas.
