Ossipee Lake is a body of water located in Eastern New Hampshire in the Lakes Region of the state. It is situated in Carroll County and can be found in the towns of Ossipee and Freedom. The total surface area of the lake is 3,245 acres, and it is the sixth-largest lake in New Hampshire. Its maximum depth is 73 feet, though on average, depth is about 27 feet.
Ossipee Lake is a prime location for boating, water sports, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. According to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, the lake is home to a variety of cold and warm water fish, including large mouth bass, small mouth bass, rainbow trout, lake trout, chain pickerel, yellow perch, white perch, sunfish and brown bullhead. The lake is accessible to the public via two shorebanks in the south. It is adjacent to Constitution Park, the Ossipee Lake Natural Area, Stimson Forest, Freedom Town Forest, Bearcamp Memorial Forest and the Ossipee Pine Barrens.
Visitors to Ossipee Lake can enjoy the amenities of Freedom and Ossipee, as well as several other nearby towns including Sandwich, Tamworth, Madison and Effingham. Nearby activities include shopping, golf, dining, camping, snowmobiling and more. The lake is also near a variety of hiking trails, ski areas and mountain ranges.
