Easton is a town located in Eastern New Hampshire within Grafton County. It encompasses a total of 31.2 square miles, all of which is land. The area is home to the Kinsman Mountain, named for early settler Asa Kinsman. Kinsman Mountain is Easton?s highest point, reaching an elevation of more than 1,000 feet. Easton also includes parts of several bodies of water, including the Wild Ammonoosuc River, the Gale River and the Connecticut River watershed.

The town was originally known as Eastern Landaff and was considered part of the nearby town of Landaff starting in 1774. In 1876, the area was incorporated and officially named Easton, which most believe is a corruption of the word ?Eastern.” When the first U.S. Census was conducted in the area in 1880, Easton was home to just 302 residents. Now, as of the 2010 U.S. Census, the population of the area has decreased to 254. Historically, Easton?s most notable resident was Bode Miller, a World Cup skier and Olympic gold medalist.

Easton is governed by a Board of Selectmen, which meets every other week. The town has no police department, a volunteer fire department and utilizes private emergency medical services. Children in the area attend schools in the White Mountains School Administrative Unit, namely Lafayette Regional for kindergarten through sixth grade and Profile Junior/Senior High for grades seven through 12.

Residents of Easton are eligible to take part in the Tri-Town Recreation Program, which serves the Franconia, Easton and Sugar Hill areas. The Tri-Town Recreation Program manages miles of hiking and cycling trails, as well as youth programs such as baseball, softball, T-ball, soccer, basketball, summer camp, adventure camp and swimming lessons. The program also hosts a Country Fun calendar, which includes various classes, events, organized fun runs and more for the whole community.
