Hill is a town located in central New Hampshire in the Dartmouth/Sunapee region of the state. It is situated in Northern Merrimack County and encompasses a total area of 26.9 square miles, .2 of which is water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Hill was home to 1,089 people.

The land that comprises Hill was first granted in 1753. At the time, it was known as "New Chester," and it was even incorporated as such when it became a town in 1778. It wasn?t until 1837 that the town took on the name "Hill," in honor of New Hampshire Governor Isaac Hill. In 1941, when the Franklin Falls Dam was built in the area, the town was relocated to higher ground.

Less than 1 percent of Hill's total area is made up of water. The town lies completely in the Merrimack River watershed, and its highest point is at Dickinson Hill, where elevation reaches 1,910 feet above sea level. Hill is served by New Hampshire Route 3A and Interstate 93, and the nearest airport (Lebanon Municipal) is just 40 miles away.

Hill is governed by an elected Board of Selectmen. The town boasts a part-time police department, a municipal fire department and municipal emergency medical services. Children in the area attend schools in the Franklin & Hill School District, which includes two elementary schools (one located in Hill), one middle school and one high school. The district's pre-school program is hosted by Franklin High School.

For recreation and entertainment, Hill residents can take advantage of the town's various municipal parks, youth organizations, sports leagues, fishing and hunting areas, snowmobile trails and cross country skiing opportunities. The town also boasts the Wade State Forest and Old Hill Village, and it is in close proximity to the Ragged Mountain ski area.
