Lebanon is a city located in Western New Hampshire in the Dartmouth/Sunapee region of the state. It is situated in the Western part of Grafton County and encompasses a total area of 41.1 square miles, 1 of which is water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Lebanon was home to 13,151 people.

The town of Lebanon was chartered and incorporated in 1761 by Governor Benning Wentworth. It gleans its name from a town in Connecticut, where many of the area's early settlers hailed from. In its early years, Lebanon had a prosperous mill district, boasting various furniture mills, textile mills and more. In 1958, the western portion of Lebanon separated and was incorporated as its own town. That same year, Lebanon proper was incorporated as a city.

Less than 3 percent of Lebanon's total area is made up of water. The city includes parts of Mascoma River, Mascoma Lake and the Connecticut River, and it lies fully within the Connecticut River watershed. Its highest point lies at Shaker Mountain, where elevation reaches 1,657 feet above sea level. Lebanon is served by New Hampshire Routes 10, 12A, 4A and 120, as well as Interstate 89.

Lebanon is governed by an elected mayor, assistant mayor and city council. The city boasts a full-time police department, a municipal fire department and municipal emergency medical services. Top employers in the area include Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Timkin, Lebanon School District, Thermal Dynamics, Alice Peck Day, Fuji Film Dimatix, Teleatlas, Lumnescent Systems, Hypertherm and City of Lebanon.

Children in the area attend schools in the Lebanon School District, which includes one preschool, two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The town also boasts Lebanon College, which offers two-year associates degrees.
