Tuftonboro is a town located in Eastern New Hampshire in the Lakes region of the state. It is situated in the Southern part of Carroll County and encompasses a total area of 50 square miles, 9 of which are water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Tuftonboro was home to 2,387 people.

In its early years, Tuftonboro was the only incorporated area in all of New Hampshire to be owned by just one man. That man was John Tufton Mason, for whom the town was eventually named. The town was officially granted by Governor Benning Wentworth, and settlement began in the 1780s. In 1795, the town was incorporated by legislative vote.

More than 18 percent of Tuftonboro's total area is made up of water. It includes the Melvin River, Beech River, Mirror Lake, Melvin Bay and Dan Hole Pond. Tuftonpboro is also home to parts of the Ossipee Mountains and Melving Village, a popular vacation spot. The town's highest point is located at Mount Shaw, where elevation reaches 2,930 feet above sea level. Tuftonboro also encompasses the northern part of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Tuftonboro is governed by an elected Board of Selectmen. The town boasts a full-time police department, a municipal fire department and municipal emergency medical services. Top employers in the area include PAK 2000, Audio Plex, MYTY Inc., New England Techni-coil, Spiderweb Gardens and Lands End Marina.

Children in the area attend schools in the Governor Wentworth Regional School District, which also serves the nearby towns of Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee and Wolfeboro. For entertainment and recreation, residents of Tuftonboro can take advantage of the town's municipal parks, youth organizations, sports leagues, fishing and hunting areas, boating marinas, snowmobile trails, cross country skiing and local beaches and waterfront areas. Tuftonboro is also close to several ski resorts, including Mount Cranmore, Attitash, Gunstock, Abenaki and King Pine.
